Oh yes it is that time. Time for me to voice my opinion on a subject that has garnered a lot of attention in the news recently and that is the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. I know a lot of people who read this may not agree with me and I understand that. We all have different points of view, observations, opinions and conclusions. I'm okay with that. I however need to voice my opinion as I've always firmly believed thoughts and ideas can change the world. Read on at your own leisure.
First we have the shooting death of Michael Brown. A case of which you've probably heard about considering you are on social media and are not living under a rock. If you have not heard about it then you need to reevaluate your life in so many ways.
I want to say that I do not know what happened the night Michael Brown died as I was not there. It is hard for me to formulate an opinion on this matter when you have conflicting witness testimony, and we have no recorded video of said incident.
I also want to say that I do not whole heartedly agree with the Ferguson rioters. Like I've said before, I was not there so I do not know. I do know that fires were started, businesses burned down and arrests were made. We all have the right to freedom of speech, and of peaceful protest but violence, burnings, and chaos are not the right ways to go about this. That ends my opinion on tge Ferguson incidents and Michael Brown.
Now we come to the choking death of Eric Garner which took place earlier this year. This one is on video, recorded by a bystander on the street and this won't even go to trial? What kind of judicial system is this if they won't take a rather obvious, frankly disgusting act of murder into their hands.
I've seen worse on the internet. Disgusting, inhumane things that probably should not be watched but what can I say, I'm a curious, somewhat morbid person. I must say with all those videos, none have affected me quite like this one.
I just don't understand why this wouldn't go to trial. As a country, we recently got angered after ISIS kidnapped our journalists and beheaded them in a video. What did we do when we found out this happened? We wanted justice. We wanted to make sure that these people paid for what they did to innocent human beings.
Now again, we come to another video of people in power, choking an innocent man who was (from what i understand), selling illegal cigarettes and breaking up a fight. The guy didn't deserve to be taken down for that.
As you can clearly see in the video, he isn't harming anyone. He's only asking the cops why they keep harassing him. After he gets taken down, he clearly tells them that they're choking him and he goes into a seizure. All the while, still in a chokehold by the same policeman.
I must ask anyone who reads this a few questions. Number one, why is it, that when we see people from across the world killing our own that we go to war but when we are killing our own we don't do anything about it. I know that beheading is 100 times more despicable but murder is murder no matter how it's done.
The second question I must ask is more complicated than the first and is kind of a scary thought. If we do not hold each other responsible for our actions, and police go about killing innocent people like Eric Garner for no reason. Where does it go from here? What happens when rioters realize that rioting isn't solving anything. What's next?
Thanks for reading, and until next time.
